Hatz 'N Scarves for the Homeless

I started knitting as a pastime in January 2021. But I wasn't sure what to do with what I had created. Back story: In 2017 we were homeless with 3 children for 9 months by no fault of our own. I unexpectedly lost my job, and my husband's pay couldn't cover all the bills. We were devastated, and my kids were mortified. We were living week to week out of cheap motels—5 of us in one tiny room. Finally, after 38 weeks of immeasurable stress, our guardian angel loaned us the money to get into a house. As the hats started piling up, I decided it was time to give back. So 158 hats and scarves later, plus 1 website, here I am. All items are handmade by me. I use various yarns; acrylic, cotton, and wool blends. I donate to various shelters, and I tend to pick the smaller ones that get less acknowledgment and support.
